Las Torres Patagonia Conducts Successful Helicopter Approach Exercise

This simulation aimed to further prepare emergency response personnel for situations requiring the use of helicopters.

Torres del Paine, October 13, 2023.- In the ongoing effort to continually advance our personnel’s readiness to respond to emergencies, Las Torres Patagonia, in collaboration with teams from Torres del Paine National Park, conducted a helicopter approach exercise this week to simulate a situation requiring this type of transfer.

This exercise was developed by Las Torres Reserve’s Disaster Prevention and Response Committee. It also included a meticulous review of heliport infrastructure in the area. Additionally, induction and specialized training sessions were conducted, along with the validation of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Another activity included in this session was emergency provisioning training.

Among the participants in this activity were the Torres del Paine Fire Brigade, the Park Rangers of the AMA Torres del Paine NGO, and the Las Torres Patagonia team.

This activity was coordinated thanks to the efforts of the Conservation, Sustainability, and Security Manager of Las Torres Patagonia, John Ojeda, who is also the Director General of Emergency Disaster Response, as well as and the Operations Manager of the same company, Braulio Méndez, who is also the Local Director of Emergency Disaster Response.

“Las Torres Reserve continues to work tirelessly to ensure a safe environment and protect the natural heritage of this region,” commented Ojeda, adding that in addition to this simulation, “the nighttime search and rescue exercise conducted two weeks ago was also successful, enriching our knowledge and results. These achievements contribute to our ongoing commitment to the community and our visitors.”
