On October 27, The Worker Safety Institute (IST) recognized Cristian Andrade for the 2022 annual distinction, “Outstanding Contribution in Prevention” for valuable work as the Non-Governmental Organization, AMA, Torres del Paine’s Park Ranger Leader.

IST, who is responsible for caring for Chilean workers, grants this distinction to prevention professionals who demonstrate concrete and systematic actions in the development of a safe and caring culture within their organizations.

This is the case with Cristian, who, as head of AMA park ranger corps, has played a prominent role in the implementation of public-private protocols within Las Torres Reserve, as well as in coordination with various institutions that provide searches and evacuations for injured people in the park.

Among their responsibilities are guaranteeing that no hiker remains on trail after park closure. As importantly, he and his team inform park visitors of preventive measures. These efforts and more have led to successful trail management in recent years, which is the reason Cristian Andrade, head of the entire AMA team,

received the “Outstanding Contribution in Prevention” distinction on October 27.

“I am very grateful for this recognition. I extend it to each park ranger who works at Las Torres Reserve in conjunction with CONAF rangers, who strive daily to provide the best care possible in Torres del Paine,” Cristian said upon receiving his award.

Mauricio Kusanovic, AMA President, expressed, “For us, caring for a territory starts with caring for people. Therefore, this IST recognition of the park rangers tremendous work represented by Cristian makes us very happy, and we hope to continue helping people in Torres del Paine, on the trails and in all of Las Torres Reserve’s companies.”

AMA continues to demonstrate its commitment to the sustainable management of Torres del Paine National Park’s trails for a safe, pleasant, and enriching experience for its visitors.
