Following a loud call to action from the Torres del Paine Mayor’s Office, the Municipal Council, the National Forestry Corporation and the Última Esperanza Fire Department agreed to form and install a fire brigade that will be located in the NGO AMA Torres del Paine sector of the Las Torres Reserve. With their capacity to respond quickly to emergencies, and so preventing them from turning into ecological, infrastructure, or other disasters, the new fire brigade has become one of the most important initiatives in providing effective protection for heritage, society, and the environment. The team is able to act as the line of protection for getting the necessary tools, action plans, operational procedures and, above all, the infrastructure capacity to respond to an emergency.
