A stay at Las Torres Hotel and Reserve goes hand in hand with living a Patagonian experience that will take you to the past. You will live like a true “baqueano” or cowboy with epic landscapes and endless activities. Accompanied by all the comforts deserved to make your stay at our hotel a moment that you will remember for a lifetime.
Characterized by permanent contact with nature and old Patagonian customs, the Baquean culture is distinctive. A Patagonian cowboy will sip mate, wear typical clothing with a signature beret, and have a permanent relationship with horses, their noble companions out on the pampas.
The day starts early here at Las Torres. If you wake up with us, you can witness one of the unique spectacles within the hotel grounds: when the baqueanos lead 196 horses to their stalls at dawn. A memorable moment framed with the beautiful colors of the sunrise appearing between the mountains, this may be your first time in front of a herd of so many animals that are known to gallop through the meadows with elegance and determination.
If this image captured your curiosity, it may be time to visit our hotel and reserve. You can see the stable where the baqueanos meet. They will proudly share all kinds of anecdotes with you while our horses rest, feed, and receive the care they need.
Here, you can talk with our baqueanos, individuals dedicated to Patagonian life in all its extensions. They will be able to tell you about the different dynamics of their daily life, from caring for the animals – their teeth, cleaning and replacing their horseshoes, and the food they receive along with their medicines.
Our baqueanos will also be able to tell you about their experiences and how they do some jobs, such as the “chihua,” an exercise in which they use horses to transport supplies and other items to the surrounding mountain hostels within Torres del Paine National Park.
During your stay at the hotel, you can enjoy our excursions, including riding horseback within Torres del Paine and surrounding areas. Depending on your experience with horseback riding, you can sign up for different levels of rides and see the park from the height and pace of a horse.
You can also add other cultural aspects of the Patagonian tradition to your stay. For example, if you come from Punta Arenas and have purchased the All Inclusive program, you can experience Cerro Negro. This place is a typical Patagonian ranch where you can witness a shepherd dog show and a sheep shearing demonstration. You can also complement the visit with a tour of the Casa Colonial Museum and marvel at its many precious objects from the last century.
After all your experiences outside in nature, the Baquean culture will follow you for a cozy and comfortable rest inside. The rooms at the hotel recall the classic Patagonian use of wood and traditional use of colors. Here, even the smallest detail offers you an environment like you have never seen before. You may have visited other hotels, but a stay at Las Torres is uniquely Patagonian.
